Online family tree – preserve your family history | Pokolení

Pokolení is an online family tree that helps families work together to preserve their family history, photographs, memories and stories for future generations.

This project began with a simple conversation.

One day, my mother showed me a printed family tree of her side of the family. Looking at it made me realize something important: after my father's passing, much of his family's history had already begun to fade. There were names we couldn't remember, stories that were disappearing, and connections that had been lost over time.

I wanted to preserve what we still knew before it was too late.

At first, I started building a digital family tree just for my own family. As I worked on it, I realized that many other families face the same challenge. Family history often lives only in the memories of parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. When those memories are gone, an irreplaceable part of our heritage disappears with them.

That's why I created this website.

It allows you to build a living family tree that grows with your family. Instead of one person trying to remember everything, you can invite your relatives to collaborate. Each family member can contribute the knowledge they have, helping to fill in missing branches, add photographs, record important dates, and preserve family stories for future generations.
